The Moonbeam Foundation is pleased to announce that the Moonbeam crowdloan is now open for pre-registration. Visit the crowdloan site to get started.
The Moonbeam crowdloan is a fantastic opportunity for Moonbeam community members to support the launch of Moonbeam Network on Polkadot. The pre-registration process is a way for individuals who intend to participate in the crowdloan to register their DOT address and complete the Moonbeam Crowdloan Terms and Conditions in advance before the crowdloan officially opens. Since the start of the crowdloan itself won’t happen until closer to November 11, 2021 — which is the date the first auction begins — this provides community members with a way to complete part of the process beforehand.
Individuals can pre-register on the Moonbeam Foundation website with the DOT address they intend to use for the crowdloan itself. Users will not need to commit to a crowdloan amount yet, and the address does not need to have the full DOT available. However, there will need to be a small balance of DOT (around 0.0411 DOT, which is <$2 USD), in order to sign the transaction. Note that you will need a minimum of 1 DOT remaining in your address after this transaction (referred to as an “existential balance”).
Agreeing to the Moonbeam Crowdloan Terms and Conditions is mandatory to participate in the Moonbeam crowdloan.
The Moonbeam crowdloan will be available in two ways: through a DApp created by the Moonbeam Foundation (which will be available when the crowdloan opens), or through approved third-party exchanges that will be announced in the next upcoming weeks.
Pre-registration through this DApp is necessary only if you plan to participate via the Moonbeam Foundation DApp. If you change your mind or decide to use a different DOT address, you will need to repeat the pre-registration process.
