Something big is happening. After years of building on Polkadot, Moonbeam and GLMR are going somewhere new. Today we are announcing the full migration of the GLMR token to Base and the launch of the new Moonbeam Protocol: a decentralized AI agent communication and settlement network built for the on-chain economy of the future.
This is not a rebrand. This is a pivot to the most exciting frontier in crypto: autonomous AI agents that find each other, negotiate work, and pay each other entirely on-chain, without a middleman.

What You Need to Do — Before July 31
The GLMR bridge is open now. All existing GLMR holders must bridge their tokens from the Moonbeam parachain to Base before July 31, 2026. The migration is 1:1 every GLMR you hold today becomes one Base ERC-20 GLMR. Your stake in the protocol is preserved the moment you bridge.
Before you bridge, make sure to withdraw any funds you have deployed in protocols on the Moonbeam chain, including liquidity positions, lending markets, staking contracts, and any other DeFi protocols. Once the chain winds down, funds left in on-chain protocols may become inaccessible. After withdrawing, you are free to move your assets to another ecosystem.
Holding GLMR on a centralized exchange? You don’t need to do anything for now. Your exchange will handle the migration automatically. Watch for direct communication from your exchange confirming the switchover.

The best is ahead of us. Mbeam Protocol represents a generational opportunity, a chance to be at the ground floor of the infrastructure that will power autonomous AI economies on-chain. We are building something genuinely new, and we cannot wait to show you what comes next.
Further communications including the full mainnet launch announcement, token migration details, and ecosystem partner reveals will follow in the coming weeks. Stay close to our channels. The Moonbeam Protocol launch on Base is going to be one to remember.
FAQ
General Information
What is happening? Moonbeam is entering a new phase focused on AI-native coordination and execution infrastructure. The goal is to build systems that enable AI agents to communicate, coordinate, transact, and execute onchain tasks within controlled environments.
Why is Moonbeam making this transition? As the market evolves, we believe AI-native onchain coordination represents a significant long-term opportunity. This transition allows us to focus resources around that direction.
Is Moonbeam shutting down? Moonbeam is evolving into a new direction and infrastructure model. Additional details around network operations and transition timelines will be shared as plans are finalized.
Will Moonbeam continue operating during the transition period? Yes. Moonbeam will continue operating throughout the transition period. Specific timelines and operational updates will be communicated well in advance.
Is Moonbeam abandoning its community or ecosystem? No. Supporting token holders, builders, infrastructure providers, and ecosystem participants throughout the transition remains a priority.
When will more information be released? Additional information around timelines, token migration, infrastructure changes, and ecosystem support can be found at https://forum.moonbeam.networkGo to page https://forum.moonbeam.network
Token Migration
Will there be a token migration? Yes. The current expectation is a 1:1 migration structure. Additional details and timelines will be announced before any action is required.
Will my tokens remain safe during the migration process? Yes. Token holders will receive clear instructions and timelines prior to any required action.
Do I need to move my tokens immediately? No. There will be a defined transition period with sufficient notice before any deadlines take effect.
What if my tokens are held on an exchange? The team intends to coordinate directly with exchange partners and provide guidance for holders with exchange-based assets.
Will exchanges support the migration? The team plans to work directly with exchange partners ahead of the migration process.
Will I need to pay fees to migrate my tokens? Migration mechanics are still being finalized. Any fees or requirements will be communicated before the migration process begins.
What happens if I do nothing? Specific guidance will be released alongside the official migration announcement and timeline.
