Moonbeam Foundation Announces “Take Flight,” a Community Token Event for Moonbeam

The Moonbeam Foundation is proud to announce “Take Flight,” a token event open to the Moonbeam community. This event is an opportunity for Moonbeam community members to obtain Glimmer (GLMR) tokens, which are the utility tokens of the Moonbeam Network.

Take Flight was created to thank the core community members who have helped us make Moonbeam a reality. It also provides a way for the community to take an active role in the future of the network through on-chain governance.

Take Flight highlights:

• Tokens Allocated for Event: 80,000,000 GLMR (8% of the initial, redenominated supply)
• Start Date: September 7, 2021, at 3:00 pm UTC*
• Duration: three sequential phases, the first of which will have a guaranteed allocation
• Lockup: 40 days from GLMR network launch (balance transfers & EVM enabled), no vesting.
• Price: to be announced later (will be the same across all three rounds).
• Tokens Accepted: USDT, USDC, ETH, BTC*
• Qualification: users must meet eligibility requirements. U.S. residents and citizens are not eligible to participate.
• Location: a link to the Take Flight event will be sent to whitelisted participants.

Take Flight Structure

Take Flight is a community-exclusive event and will consist of three sequential rounds over a period of days. As such, all three rounds will require a whitelist to participate.

The Moonbeam Foundation has designed the Moonbeam Take Flight event with fairness to our community in mind. Our goal for this event is not to maximize proceeds. Our goal is to reward and thank our community for its loyalty and support throughout the development and launch process while still being able to sustain network operations and support the upcoming Moonbeam launch on Polkadot.

In an effort to make this event as inclusive and fair as possible, the Moonbeam Foundation has added these parameters:

• No Whales: There is a low threshold for the maximum contribution so that large funds cannot swoop in and take a huge allocation.
• Low Minimums: The minimum contribution is quite low so that the event is inclusive of more community members with varying abilities to contribute.
• Sequential, Staggered Rounds: The three whitelist rounds are separated to help ensure that many community members have a fair opportunity to participate.

Access to each round for the Take Flight community event will be determined by each individual’s participation in various community activities. See the chart below for more details.

Other Ways to Get Involved

This event is not the only way for existing community members and soon-to-be community members to participate in the Moonbeam network. As previously announced, the Moonbeam Foundation will be running Liquidity Incentive Programs on both Moonriver and Moonbeam, and will allocate a percentage of the Moonbeam network to reward Moonbeam Crowdloan contributors. How to Get on the Whitelist

In order to participate, your email address must be on the Moonbeam Foundation whitelist.

Starting today, the following groups may submit their emails for the whitelist. These individuals will receive additional information via email in the coming days, including the details of when to register and complete identity verification. Please be patient; this information will be sent to you as soon as it is ready.

If you are a member of one of the groups below and you have completed ONE of the steps outlined below, then you will receive an email from takeflight@moonbeam.foundation confirming your whitelist status within the next seven (7) days, and it will also include information on how to formally register for the event and complete identity verification.

Note that there is no advantage to signing up for multiple whitelists. You only need to submit your email for one whitelist, which should be the highest priority list for which you’re qualified (e.g., if you qualify for Round One, just apply for one of those whitelists).

Round One: Moonbeam Ambassadors

Congratulations: you are already on the whitelist. There is no action needed.

If you were an Ambassador or Senior Ambassador* as of August 13, 2021, at 12:00pm UTC, then your email address is already on the Round One “Community Early Access” whitelist. You will receive an email from takeflight@moonbeam.foundation within the next seven (7) days. This email will provide detailed information on how to register and complete identity verification for the event.

* Ambassadors and Senior Ambassadors are those who have fully completed the ambassador application process and successfully submitted APPROVED two tasks to the team.

Round One: Moonriver “Direct” Crowdloan Participants

Good news: if you contributed to the Moonriver crowdloan through the Moonbeam Foundation DApp, then you can add your email address to the whitelist through the same DApp.

Please go to the DApp home page and click the “Start” button to begin the process. Follow these steps to add your email address to the whitelist:

1. Connect the Polkadot.js extension and then select the Kusama address you used to contribute to the Moonriver crowdloan. This will pull up your “Contribution Details.”
2. Click the blue “Submit Email” button.
3. Enter your email, select the checkbox once you have reviewed the privacy policy, and then sign a message using the Polkadot.js extension to verify account ownership.

That’s it; you’re done. There is no transaction to the blockchain and no fee. If you have any issues, please reach out to us at takeflight-help@moonbeam.foundation.

Once you submit your email, you will receive an email from takeflight@moonbeam.foundation within the next seven (7) days with detailed information on how to register and complete identity verification for the event.

Round One: Moonriver Crowdloan Participants via KuCoin

Good news: if you contributed to the Moonriver crowdloan through KuCoin, then you will receive instructions from KuCoin on how to join the whitelist.

Note to crowdloan participants who contributed through other exchanges: At this time, we do not have the ability to verify your participation without help from your exchange. We are actively working to identify a solution and will provide an update if one is found. Thank you again for your support and stay tuned for updates on this.

Round One: Moonbeam PolkaPet Owners

For those who have kept their Moonbeam PolkaPet from earlier this year, we have good news: you are able to join the Take Flight whitelist. As long as you own a Moonbeam PolkaPet as of August 13, 2021, at 12:00pm UTC (block number 13016689 on Ethereum MainNet), you can submit your email for the whitelist. Please visit the PolkaPet Whitelist DApp to verify your ownership of the PolkaPet and add your email address to the whitelist.

Once you submit your email through PolkaPet Whitelist DApp, then your email will be included on the whitelist. You will receive an email within the next seven (7) days from takeflight@moonbeam.foundation with detailed information on how to register and complete identity verification for the event.

Round Two: Moonbeam Telegram Members

Good news: if you are a member of the official Moonbeam Telegram group as of August 13, 2021 at 12:00pm UTC, then you will be able to add your email to the whitelist. New members that join the Moonbeam Telegram after this date and time will still be eligible to submit their email for the whitelist, but will not be able to participate in the event until Round Three.

To register, in Telegram:

1. Start a direct message chat with “@takeflightwhitelist_bot”, by searching its name.
2. Click “START.”
3. Next, read the information sent by the bot carefully.
4. After you’ve done so, enter the email address you wish to add to the whitelist.
5. This bot will respond in Telegram confirming the receipt of your email address.

You will then receive an email from takeflight@moonbeam.foundation within the next seven (7) days with detailed information on how to register and complete identity verification for the event.

Round Two: Moonbeam Discord Member

Good news: if you are a member of the Moonbeam Discord server as of August 13, 2021 at 12:00pm UTC, then you will be able to add your email address to the whitelist.

To register your email address, please follow these steps:

1. Type “/takeflight” in any public channel on the Moonbeam server.
2. You should then see a pop up for the “/takeflight” slash command. Select this pop-up. This will initiate an embedded conversation with the TakeFlightWhitelist bot that is only visible to you.
3. The TakeFlightWhitelist bot will provide you with some important information that must be read carefully.
4. After you’ve gone through the information, type and select the “/submitemail” slash command.
5. Enter your email address you wish to add to the whitelist.
6. The bot will respond in Discord to confirm the receipt of your email address.

You will then receive an email from takeflight@moonbeam.foundation within the next seven (7) days with detailed information on how to register and complete identity verification for the event.
