For the Take Flight event, participants need to provide a payment address from which you’ll send the funds. Participants also need to provide a receiving address which is where the GLMR will be sent once it is unlocked (40 days after Moonbeam is fully functional, with balance transfers and EVM enabled).

Payment Address

This quick tutorial will take you through the necessary steps of adding a payment address. Please note that you must have MetaMask installed, since you will need to connect your Take Flight account to a MetaMask account. MetaMask is the only wallet you can use for payment, although other wallets are acceptable for the receiving address (where the GLMR will be sent). You must use a desktop or laptop while completing the following steps and while participating in the Take Flight event. Mobile devices (even with the MetaMask app installed) are not supported.

Your payment address and your receiving address are unique to your email address and may only be associated with a single Tokensoft account. This means if you participated in a prior event using a different email address, you will not be able to re-use that MetaMask address for either payment or receiving address and will need to create a new one.

You cannot send funds from an exchange to participate in Take Flight. Exchange addresses are not supported for payment nor receiving addresses. Please make sure you complete this quick process before the event starts on September 7.

First, visit the Take Flight event site: https://takeflight.moonbeam.foundation/ and sign in with your email address and password.

Account info

On the Account Information page, perform the following steps:

  1. Press “Connect to MetaMask”
  2. Select which MetaMask account you’d like to be your payment address. A reminder that this MetaMask account cannot be affiliated with another Tokensoft account.
  3. Press “Next”
  4. Press “Connect” to allow the site to view the addresses of your permitted accounts.

Connect MetaMask

Note: Your payment address MUST be unique to your account.

Either address (payment or receiving) cannot be used if it is already associated in the Tokensoft system with another email (either as the payment or receiving address). If you get an error stating that your address has already been registered with another user, you must use a different MetaMask account for this event. Exchange addresses are not supported. If you enter a payment address that is associated with another email you will see the following warning message below. To resolve this, create a new MetaMask address by opening your MetaMask and pressing “Create Account.”

How to Add an ETH Address to Receive your Moonbeam (GLMR) Tokens

For the Take Flight event, participants need to provide a receiving address which is where the GLMR will be sent once it is unlocked (40 days after Moonbeam is fully functional, with balance transfers and EVM enabled). You may find it easiest to create a new Receiving Address for this event. Alternatively, you may use an existing Ethereum-style address you own. If you participated in prior Tokensoft events, you can either use a new address or re-use an existing address that was used in a Tokensoft event with the same email.

To allow you to access your GLMR, your receiving address cannot be an exchange address (such as your personal deposit address at an exchange) or addresses created with the Polkadot.js extension. If you provide one of these addresses as your receiving address, your GLMR will be lost forever.

First, sign in to the Take Flight event site: https://takeflight.moonbeam.foundation/ with your email address and password. Click on “Profile” in the upper right corner.

To add your receiving address, complete the following steps:

  1. Press the edit button to the right of the “ETH address to receive Moonbeam GLMR” field.
  2. Enter your receiving address. Ensure you own the seed or private key to this address.
  3. Enter your current Tokensoft password to authorize the changes. Note: This field is not prompting you for your MetaMask password.
  4. Press Submit.

On the next page, you’ll see “Receive Address Updated” as a confirmation. That’s it!

Please ensure your receiving address is correct because it cannot be changed after you participate in Take Flight.

Either address (payment or receiving) cannot be used if it is already associated in the Tokensoft system with another email (either as the payment or receiving address). If you get an error stating that your address has already been registered with another user, you must use a different ETH receiving address for this event. Exchange addresses are not supported. If you enter a receiving address that is associated with another email you will see the following warning message below.
